A gentle start
- Your Local Friend meets you in the lobby of your hotel in Hà Nội's Old Quarter. No rushing — we leave when you are ready, around 7:30. A comfortable, air-conditioned minivan carries you south through the Red River Delta, where rice paddies stretch all the way to the horizon.

- A hidden architectural wonder most travellers never see. Begun in 1892, this extraordinary stone cathedral marries Vietnamese pagoda design with European Gothic ambition. Your Local Friend tells you the story of Father Trần Lục, who spent twenty-four years raising this masterpiece out of the paddy fields.

Tam Cốc – Bích Động
- Glide through the waterway locals call "Hạ Long Bay on land". Limestone mountains rise from emerald rice paddies like sleeping giants, and your boatwoman rows with her feet, exactly as she has done all her life.

Thung Nắng — the Valley of Sunlight
- The crown of the day. Board a traditional sampan and let your rower carry you in near silence through water caves into hidden valleys. In the late light the karsts turn gold, then amber. This is the Vietnam that postcards cannot hold.
